Citizen Kain had their first release with MBF and created quite a stir with their
pounding a-side track „Doppelgänger“ seven months ago.
Their new ep „Joker of the Queen“ is a legitimate follow up with its monstrous
bad drums and hitting percussions and ghostly whispers!
The a-side and title track „Joker of the Queen“ is sheer rave alarm with fog,
strobe and 303. The alternation of beat, breaks and cool rave sounds creates a
cool techno environment.
„Borderline“, „Morning Glory“ and „En Apparte“ are brothers of the same kind
and close the door on Citizen Kain´s new rave sound.
As a digital bonus track we see another Koook remix popping up. After remixing
Michel Cleist´s „Deconstructed“ the mysterious man has again put his hands on
samples and has produced a brilliant remix of „Joker of the Queen“.

Yes the original of Tim Green’s track „Mr Dry“ worked great on the dance floors,
being supported heavily by Richie Hawtin, Claude van Stroke and Ricardo Villalobos.
Nwow the upcoming remix record really stands out, because all mixes contribute
something special and new to the original.
So expect Jakob Hilden, one half of the Trapez ltd duo Red Robin & Jakob Hilden
and cofounder of Format B, to rock the floor with his distinguished style that has made
many of his tracks so special. Jakob has refrained from using the vocal in it’s original
pitch and has added a different mega fat bassline and cool arrangements that play
with tiny bits of the original instead.
On the flipside we hear a more seductive and hypnotic remix of the Swiss artist
Dachshund, known for his great records on Num and his brilliant remixes.
Dachshund adds a nice adventurous hi-tech sound design to the original and
definitely is the man who can create a super flow. His „Bottomless“ remix works as
well with deep moments in your set as with peak time moments.
With his “Sir Flindt of Lophi” remix, Lophi has created a nice DJ tool which has a
super groove through focussing on just a few elements! One can call it a brilliant
classic minimal techno groover!

Wagon Repair is thrilled to announce the debut of Sex Trothler, alter ego of Berlin based
Detroit native Seth Troxler.
With releases on Spectral, Esperanza and Circus Company, Troxler is one of few Michigan
acts who have started bubbling out of Detroit’s underground and student party set over the
last few years. Names like Troxler, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss are part of a new
generation of musicians from the Motor City who are merging European minimal house
and techno with local influences, not to mention adding a wacky brand of humour to
dance’s often dead seriousness.
Opener ‘Face (Tribute to Head)’ centres around ping pong live percussion, diving female
vocal and screwed male vocal-cum-atmospheric. Plodding bass and slowly released pads
support an undulating lead synth line in an hypnotic and deep house journey.
The ‘Interlude’ brings an element of humour to the record, with a funkadelic vocal
announcement mixed above a perversely wacked out electronic funk soundtrack.
To close, ‘Jus Your’ opens with a warm organ sound, disturbed vocal and deep synth
pulse. Breaking into a strutted rhythm, the mix is complemented by disorienting siren
tones, clattering percussion and surprise heavy bass melodies. Unabashedly deep and
sleazy, Sex Trothler has outdone himself.

As a producer, one of the most essential aspects of touring is being able to road test new tracks and
ideas in an authentic environment where the symbiotic relationship between artist and crowd can
often elevate a piece of music to unexpected new heights. Over the last 12 months if one track has
filled this criteria during Gaiser’s live sets then it’s Trunkated, the euphoric reaction it always induces
making it the obvious choice for the A side. It’s a real powerhouse that’s as complete as anything
you’re likely to hear this year. Every element is honed to perfection from the driving kick and molten
bass to the irresistible percussion parts, from the mischievous, dancing bleeps to the twisted synth
motif that seems to rip through the delicate fabric of reality. Sleek and deadly, it’s primed for peak
time abuse and will tear the roof off whenever and wherever it’s played.
The B-side offers up something a little different from the opening section of the LP. Face Down is a
departure in style for Gaiser in so much as it’s more atmospheric than his previously released material.
The beats are still pushing forward, alternating under the influence of a tight, metronomic snare but
the space in between allows more of the peripheral elements to slip through into the foreground not
least the cut-up vocal samples, whose strange, indistinct conversation penetrates deep into the
subconscious. The bassline, as is always the case with Gaiser productions, bubbles and simmers
with a clarity that defies its subsonic frequencies, while the intricate EFX and distance drones add a
feverish quality to the raw post-electro groove.

Since the official release of ellen allien’s album “sool”, everybody knows the catchy hookline of the track “elphine”. visitors with regular attendance on the bpitch control homepage couldn’t miss it. with catalogue number bpc181 “elphine” is now available as 12”. bpitch control artists zander vt and the american troy pierce purify this track with their special remixes. three big names in the business.

a1: elphine
as a constant part of various radio and dj playlists worldwide, “elphine” is creeping into your subconsciousness in a frisky way and produces positive energy. so make sure your aerials are on reception and your controllers on maximum position.

a2: elphine (zander vt remix)
it was a quiet time for zander vt lately, but with their new remix (as well as an upcoming 12” on bpitch control) the two berlin based djs and producers are back with an impressive sign of live and deliver a delicious work on here. the characteristic “elphine” hook crosses the whole remix theme and pushes the audience straight on the dancefloor.

b: elphine (troy’s one eyed jak remix)
these days, the american-born troy pierce lives in the german capital berlin. constantly creating big furore with his releases on richie hawtin’s label m_nus, mr. pierce has put his magic fingers on ellen allien’s track “elphine” - the result is a unique remix, pushed by an impulsive bassline and the new arranged vocals, taken from the original.

The 23 year old music student Ricardo Tobar from the seaside town of Viña del Mar in
Chile is one of the upcoming stars at Border Community and is now releasing his debut
12” with Traum! Tobar´s a-side track “La Otra Playa” is an explosive electronic grunge piece of music with lots of feedback and noises on top of a wonderful melodic carpet.
It is introspective music clouded with melancholy and counteracts with sure brutal force but lets sun beams shine through from time to time, in all creating a dramatic composition.

Here Electronica meets the pioneer days of techno in a wonderful unpretentious way.
“With You” on the flipside combines with an easiness euphoric rippling fuzzy guitars sounds with echno beats. It evokes the feeling of the indie days from the mid 90ies when commercialisation was beginning to approach the scene in a big way.
“Escalera A Central” is by far the most “minimal” track on Tobar´s record. More stripped down and focussed on sounds that act on a smaller scale in relation to the rhythm.
A psychedelic track, changing direction, throwing itself from one corner to the other and still staying a DJ tool.
“Sometimes”, the digital bonus track is a quiet “orchestral-pop piece” of music, which has a slightly melancholic feel to it, reminiscent of some techno house elements providing it with a rough edge that is so typical for Ricardo Tobar´s post punk production.

A. La Otra Playa

Jeff Samuel is back on Trapez! After a break and several releases on other labels such as
Frankie, his a-side track “Chloe’s Brain“ is again a cool nightmare of small ghosts coming alive. Jeff´s talent for fitting small things together to create one sound is a skill he is an absolute master in. There are times when all these elements seems to have a life of their own but Jeff always manages to bring them together with tightness and accuracy.
“Chloe’s Brain“ is a weird piece of funk that works well with the releases out on Trapez at the moment.
“The Times” on the flipside seems heavier. The production is relentless and strong, still quirky but a whole lot more powerful in this respect.
“Curveball” the first digital bonus track, is probably the straightest track of the whole release resenting itself stronger in the way of a powerful tool which has already rocked several dance floors during Jeff´s live sets!
The second bonus mix comes by Jacob London from Seattle Washington, USA. The duo is
well known from their releases on Om Records (San Francisco), Dotbleep (Chicago), Doubledown (San Diego), U-Freqs (UK) and Derrick Carter & Luke Solomon’s popular Classic Records (UK) imprint. They have contributed a remix in their own unique funky style.
Jacob London´s remix asks the question: “What do you want to do after this” and they really get the remix going with a lot of cool added vocals and funky programmed cut up sound clips that we believe could be from the original or out of space and last but not least ad a super driving bassline!

Piemont´s new 12” “Central Mouth” gives a good foretaste of their upcoming album on
MBF which will be released in February 2009.

Frederic Möring-Sack and Christian de Jonquiéres evoke the ghosts of previous releases
such as “Carbonat”, Sympathetic” and “Black Smoker” but add another facet.

The title track “Central Mouth” is a track that genuinely brings rave and percussive skills
together, creates so to speak a fine blend of reduction on the one hand and a “hands up in
the air feeling” on the other hand. A new thing for Piemont which has already proved to be
one of their absolute hits in their live set.

“Retroreflector” is nearly the opposite, the percussive elements come to the force much
stronger and create a wonderful flow, which leaves the DJ with a drink enjoying
“Retroreflector’s” voyage.
Bastian Heerhorst is the first artist to remix a Piemont track so far for us.
His remix of “Central Mouth” will be released as an exclusive digital bonus track.
The “Sa coma play Mix” relies on mighty chords which give the the remix a dramatic edge
and an additional post Detroit feeling the original was not focussed on.
We are excited about his debut.

Marc Houle follows 2007’s Techno Vocals EP with a string of releases that experiment with the
true potential of the digital download age, 3 tracks released per week for one month.

The project aptly titled Sixty-Four represents an exciting phase in Marc Houle’s production cycle
with most of the year having been spent testing ideas for his album. As a result, these twelve tracks
were only ever meant to represent ‘work in progress’, functioning primarily as DJ tools for Magda,
Troy Pierce and Richie Hawtin over the summer with Marc also performing them live on the road and
during the Contakt shows. However, exactly because of their ‘in-between’ nature, their inherent
quirkiness and route one approach the crowds have really taken to them and other DJs have been
desperate to get their hands on them. To satisfy demand, Minus has put together this very special
series of digital releases for August, before a double pack 12″ hits the shops in September featuring
seven carefully selected tracks.

They contain such a wealth of unique and twisted sounds that it’s a challenge finding adjectives to
describe them. Houle attacks each idea with verve and tenacity, constantly varying the
unconventional line up of machines at his disposal, in fact there’s a vast collection of equipment on
display here - early analogue synths, sequencers and drum machines, 80s digital synths, modern
buchla synths, samplers, vocals, acoustic drums, electronic trigger pads, bass guitar - even a vst! The
result is a plethora of sound encapsulating different styles and multi – coloured dimensions as each
track revolves around a musical motif that’s subsequently stretched, contorted and wrenched in every
direction possible. It all works perfectly as Houle never loses sight of the basic orthodoxies needed to
make a techno track kick.

For this year’s artist album on his label Cadenza Records Luciano explores a new direction into the world
of pop music, or at least something very much like it. If you’re searching for a new direction in
contemporary club music, Los Updates may just be the musical reset you’ve been looking for. Quirky,
moving and instantly memorable, it’s a sophisticated pop song album displaying a rare degree of musical
maturity.

Los Updates is the latest project from Chilean mastermind Jorge González, long one of the country’s bestknown musical ambassadors. Jorge has been a central figure on the Latin American musical stage since the ’80s—first as the co-founder of Chile’s beloved political rockers Los Prisioneros, then as a restlessly inventive solo musician and as one half of Gonzálo Martínez, the experimental electronic duo with Dandy Jack. Now based in Mexico City and working alongside Loreto Otero, Jorge presents Los Updates, a new project combining electro-pop with sprightly house and techno. Los Updates expand their collaborative scope by reaching out to Jorge’s inner circle from back in Santiago and beyond: Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack, Luciano, Tobias Freund and others - all deliver defiantly original remixes of Los Updates across a trilogy of 12-inch singles – released on Cadenza Records this year - and a remix compilation on CD will follow in 2009.
But here, if you please, Luciano presents Los Updates First If You Please: an eight-song suite that makes the definitive Los Updates document.
Jorge backs up an unforgettable vocal performance with equally compelling production, crafting an addictive groove out of rubbery synthesizers, clattering drum machines and oddball samples galore. There’s no doubt that he has top-notch studio chops, but González makes his outsider status a virtue: His beats don’t sound like anyone else’s.
The album is a “kinky journey,” to quote Jorge, into rare chemicals, sexual madness, and hearts beating at 128 BPM; by turns whimsical and biting, it’s a showcase of Jorge’s off-kilter storytelling, a sentimental adventure across continents and musical styles. House, pop, 2-step, 8-bit, funk, rave and balladry all come together in a glorious and glittering amalgam that’s at once loosey-goosey and precise as clockwork. The air is thick with sounds as bright as scarab beetles—squelchy synthesizers, sirens, electric guitars, acid squiggles, cascading ice cube clatter—and loops skip back and forth in bursts of nervous energy. At the center of it all is Jorge’s voice: seductive, inimitably rich, impossibly suave and yet, sometimes, even a little weird. A voice to fall in love with.
A record release tour of Los Updates will start in fall 2008.

The Berlin label Meteosound (run by SHITKATAPULT´s Daniel Meteo) broke its silence with its digital only DEMAND series in early 2008. Now we are proud to announce our first vinyl 12″ release after one year!

With BAD IDEAS Berlin producer and sound engineer FELIX delivers a great book of (5) musical sketches that lead from uptempo cut up dubby hiphop beats and breaks to dreamy musical pictures of instrumental music. BAD IDEAS is concentrating on music production as something wonderful and its raw endings, cuts and missing fades amplify this feeling. You can surely find a strong influence of jazz music in his chord progressions and catchy phrases. So Meteo22 comes as an offer and parole to start to make music again and let ideas grow by themselves again without restrictions or genre typical needings.

Is that a bad idea? Meteosound prooves again that it´s worth to spend any hour of your lifetime for the wants and wishes of good electronic music far beyond marketing areas, techno club hypes or overdone labelling of a genre - whether you call it dub, soul city music or electronic music or whatever…

FELIX is also known as DONNA K and SCAPEGOAT for several releases on labels like FREIZEITGLAUBEN or SHITKATAPULT.

Questions of sleep deprivation aside, the boys are clearly amped about this tour, as they dropped this exclusive mix into our laps for the XLR8R podcast. This newest Wagon Repair is a real treat, with label head Mathew Jonson collaborating with Stockholm’s Adam Beyer, who also lends his remixing talents to Mat’s signature track ‘Marionette’ on the flip side. With ‘Big Dipper’ the sum is arguably even greater than it’s parts. Adam’s pounding percussion is distinctively present, with Mat’s acute ability to develop suspense eminent throughout. Throbbing synth melodies ebb over unrelenting drum patterns, mutating in pitch around a needling static bass and a dissonant lead melody. Surveillant pads loom above the mix, isolating and overpowering elements as the drums grow in stature to climax. Adam Beyer’s interpretation of ‘Marionette’ is a crunchy number, strutting with eerie resonant keys and tight, thudded percussion around the original’s distinctive undulating lead melody.

welcome to the allien world.
sool is subtle and mysterious.
sool is the new - 4th soloalbum by ellen allien.

“created in winter 2007/2008 in berlin, intended to be a valve, a loophole. winters always have been a very creative time for me; in particular, after this past hot and crazy summer and autumn 2007 in berlin. i do not have any gigs, i never
stay at one place for such a long period of time. instead, i push buttons at the studio, and sing. yeah! minimal what does minimal mean for me?
minimal is just there. permuting that, shaping this kind of immediacy with my own hands - that was close to my heart. a whiff of positive, but nevertheless abysmal energy creates room for the ears. for yours and mine.

what is sool? how is sool?
sool is everything, everyone and none - sool is a phantasm, a creation, which reflects the albums atmosphere, and also my person. i am me; but i am also what you made me for, what you do with me and what i do with you. and, sool is curiosity, room, and architecture. sketches; drawing; adhering.”

Ellen Allien’s dj-skills are made available again in her fabulous boogy bytes 4 - mix - both en route and everywhere else. according to her contribution to the fabric mixes (fabric 34), and ‘my parade’ (bpc094), an update to her label bpitch control has been done.

And we have to say a big ‚yes!‘ at first, because ellen allien possesses a striking intuition for being directly on the sound of the present - but she never subdues herself to a certain ‚zeitgeist‘. instead, she is known for her shaping of an own typology of sound, that sometimes is a bit too far, maybe crooked, more abstract or technoid than others, and which is moreover understandable as her personal reflection of the now - only out her point of view. as a dj, she stays in a long tradition where the emotional and direct contact to the audience always comes first - likewise, she tries to wage all feasible facets, which are possible in the interaction between dancefloor, airports, studion, office, and living rooms.

It is important for her, to ‚memorize‘ her favourite tracks for the club - but besides that, she never stands idle during the week, and so the motif of motion is formative for the mix too. she describes it in her own words as ‚emotional, noisy, trippy, weird, and sexual‘, which means boogy bytes 4 became impulsive but subtile too. the bass drum is not set into the foreground obviously, neither should it dominate the feelings of the listener. rather, ellen allien sketches a voyage that consists of bass lines, effects and the arangement of the tracks among each other. out of it, enough ‚void‘ is left for the listeners own perception of the music and his personal add-on‘s. not only the last year has been a special year for her, but also for electronic music ‚made in europe‘. and so, that element resonates within the mix, which ellen allien begins with the poem producer agf (who also produces her new longplayer ‚sool‘) and finishes it with the ballad ‚twice‘ of peacefrog‘s little dragon. in between, space is left for the development of concrete moves - and the last club nights appear in mind.

Furthermore, with the current Boogy Bytes 4, Ellen Allien queues seamlessly in the successful series of mixes by Bpitch Control artists. The photographer Axl Jansen, a friend of the Bpitch Control universe, did a perfect instant-action shot for the cover. Whereas in the previous releases Kiki, Sascha Funke, and Modeselektor stood behind the decks, now it is time to give room to Ellen Allien!

First up is the Supermayer version - say what you like about their album but you can not fault a single remix they’ve done. This one follows suit with it’s rather low-slung bassline that bubbles away, the chunky drums and the slow build-up. A beauty! On the flip Herr Koze takes over with equally blinding results… His version is much more playfull and percussive with pads and the occasional off-beat riff punctuating the whole remix. Another slow-builder, it takes a while till it kicks in, but once it does…

Two cuts from Oliver Ho under his Raudive guise, delivering a jerky, driving techno bouncer that really works with its machine grooves and trippy bits and pieces. More smacked out on the B side but still with a nice, bright trippy feel. Strong!

Beautifully packaged CD release of this excellent debut album from Dice - who has come a long way from his hip hop roots. Based in Dusseldorf, Dice has been resident at Ibiza’s DC10, released the huge “Seeing Through Shadows” on Minus and been behind some stunningly prodcued tracks on Cadenza. Moving away from Dusseldorf for the streets of New York, Dice created this album over the last year or so - this should suit both home listeners and djs wanting some good club tracks. The album starts with the sublime “Breakfast At Nina’s”, loose, intricate beats and a sweet vocal combine then change for an excellent, organic start. “How Do I Know” is another Cadenza excursion into rhythm - never straying too far from melody and percussion & that all important simple - organic style. Hypnotic and fascinating. “La Esquina” is another highlight - an upbeat, good-vibe track built using two house piano riffs that intertwine each other perfectly. Never completely leaving his hip hop roots behind “Pimp”

musick 21 – 12“ - out March, 28th 2008
SHRUBBN!! is back!!
musick (shitkatapult´s clubload label) presents RUMPELRITTER - an epic tekkkno 12″ by schieres and t.raumschmiere aka SHRUBBN!! this record contains four basic techno tracks with a zero tolerance policy against all odds. Opener BASSTOELPEL presents a straight 4 to the floor beat with a great hook-melody line. KUCHENBLECH and THEMA 2.0 follow this idea combining rave and rough and musick. last track on this ep is the giant ambient piece EBENHOLZ that has been made of pure sound progression and not easy logic plug ins. after all RUMPELRITTER remarks a great follow up of the first musick 12″ by SHRUBBN!! who are able to merge the “good old” t.raumschmiere techno punk vibe with a crystal clear techno beat. please also look out for the amazing SHRUBBN!! remixes of APPARAT (on shitkatapult´s upcoming strike 89 -apparat remixes double CD) and depeche mode singer DAVE GAHAN (on mute). feel the taste of musick – with SHRUBBN!!

shitkatapult strike 91 – CD - out 2nd of may 2008
LARS FENIN has been a shitkatapult artist right from the start. his first ep “container“ (strike 19) already displayed his unique dub techno trademark sound in the late nineties. several eps and one wonderful album (“grounded“) later shitkatapult proudly presents his second album “been through“ in may 2008. and FENIN truely developed: “been through“ steps out of the dub techno circus to involve much more.

firstly rhythmwise you can recognize that the dub step era influenced the berlin producer: 4 to the floor beats have been replaced by strong broken patterns that still deal with a dancefloor feeling but with ltheir subtle breaks and moves develop into a very own approach to electronic dancehall.

secondly and more important: just as other shitkatapult artists like T.RAUMSCHMIERE and APPARAT for example, FENIN developed his songwriting skills that already led him to his most impressing track so far (“none of them“ from “grounded”). the track “A TRY“ is far out! heartbreaking lyrics on a wonderful conscious tune, that easily merges dancefloor and listening approach. fenin’s charming comrade GORBI, a berlin based singer from ghana, lends his unique voice for this beautiful track. far away from being a ripping wanna-be jamaican reggae toaster, GORBI showcases a real african singer spirit in his work. as a whole “been through“ contains 4 tracks with GORBI: the very african “colourfield“, the majestic “a try“, the silent “I guess“ and the smiling cover version of “red red wine“ mark a line of tunes, songs - not tracks.

FENIN also released on labels like ECHOCORD, METEOSOUND, REVOLVER, HÖRZU, EINTAKT.

Greek duo AirbusModular will be releasing their debut record “Destination” on Traum in
April 08´.
The 3-tracker features the title track on the a-side. The brainy melodic avalanche track
“Destinations” has sequences wandering up and down randomly creating a seemingly
Latin like flavour.
The b-side holds the tracks “Poise” and “Manoeuvres time seconds”. “Poise” is a technical
but energetic track with lots of different parameters and small details throwing you gently
from one corner into the next. As the track evolves it develops into a dubby relaxed techno
house track.
AirbusModular´s shift from one genre into the other is achieved by a fantastic loose sort of
jam session like structure.
The b2 track “Manoeuvres time seconds” is more experimental and occasionally hits with
organ stabs und cool breaks.
Tracklist:
A. Destinations
B1. Poise
B2. Manoeuvres time seconds

Bukaddor & Fishbeck´s forth EP on MBF is again another step further into a slightly
different direction. As we have witnessed everyone of their record´s has been different so
far. “Nachtexpress/ Long distance call” stood for hypnotic repetitive contemplative music,
“Less/ Polterabend” for dynamic rocking heavy duty techno house, “Supaglass/ Campus”
added a touch of pop and smoothness… their new record “Live is Life/ Mr. Floppy” is
definitely the most stripped down percussive record they have done so far.
The beat phreak track “Live is Life” evolved from their recent live gigs in Rome. It is a very
direct “hands up in the air” monster.
We think Richie Hawtin will be able to relate to that tune since it evokes feelings of the past
which arouse when dancing to Plastikman records. Now with “Live is Life” the force is also
the unbelievable heavy bassline which is the motor for the track together with the
determined percussive onslaught.
“Live is Life” is definitely a DJ track which will mix in well with a lot of minimal records, but
the fatness of this one will show for sure.
“Mr. Floppy” is closer to their track “Campus” much bolder and softer, but very percussive
and funky. Probably the track which is less extreme but will work in many sets since it´s less
demanding, has cool breaks to relax and dynamic shifts which are all very well thought
out.
We can see this records will be a real DJ weapon, so don´t miss it.
Tracklist:
A. Live is Life
B. Mr. Floppy

We are ecstatic to welcome Octopus to the Tailored family!
A modern electronic music imprint maintained and curated by Sian
(Aus/Pokerflat/Karmarouge), Octopus has to date worked with artists of the calibre of
Gui Borratto, 3Channels and Calculus.
Their fourth release welcomes French artist Herve AK, well known for his seasoned
and delicate techno compositions. Resident DJ and artistic director of Lyon’s renowned
DV1 club, Herve has to date released on everyone from K2/Kompact, Stirsound and
Obsolete, picking up a reputation as the ‘Louis Vuitton of techno’ along the way.
A side ‘Sorry But No’ (Rippertons D3 Remix) invites cultured Swiss artist Ripperton to
reinvent Herve’s original. Opening with clattering percussion, live electronic signals
coalesce into a melodic push, with euphoric pads and an off beat bass climb pushing the
mix to the edge and beyond.
On the B side, Herve’s original pulses and crackles with flickered percussion and patient
melody. Ethereal pads slowly approach from a distance, enlivening the composition and
agitating the dormant static into a frenzied climax.

Persona label boss Stewart Walker returns with his first
12” release since last year’s well-received album
“Concentricity.” On this release he continues to seek the
correct balance between power and detail in high,
medium, and low intensity versions.
The powerful A - Side, “The Stiff Materialist” kicks off the release with at least a thousand sounds
and a clearly defined dynamic narrative which shifts between many unique-sounding peaks and
plateaus.
B1 – “Free Association” has become a staple of Stewart’s live shows over the last 6 months. It’s a
little bit more subdued than the track on the flip, but it gains intensity with a pull on the pitch-slider,
and at slower pitches becomes more groovy.
B2 - “Mint Tea with Honey” is the most peaceful track of the EP, and one for those who really
enjoyed “Getting Drunk was the Right Thing to Do.” from Stewart’s last Persona 12” “Druid Hills.”

After an excellent feedback for its first release, Renovatio Records presents an ep made by young and rising producers from Sardinia.
The first track “Techno inside Me” is produced by Andrew KK, a new talented and promising artist from the sardinian techno scene who already released on 4line records from Barcelona. His track for Renovatio is obscure and obsessive, with a lot of synths that impress with its epic and agressive atmosphere.
The first track on the b side is “Techno is brain”, from the label manager Alessio Mereu, characterised by a deep bassline and a pressing groove, in which the hypnotic synths and a sensual voice are perfectly puzzled in and destined to keep the dancefloor crazy.
On the same side, “Morale della favola” by Danilo Carboni is characterised by a funky groove and deep sounds getting a surprising impact, with a particular evolution and great rithmics.
Don’t miss it!

djyellowastrid.jpg
A product of an intense artistic exchange between Parisian producer DJ Yellow and
New Yorker Astrid Suryanto, ‘The Intermission’ catalogues a story of burning desire
and accursed love.
The concept was clear from day one. The duo would write a love letter, and sculpt an
album from its contents. Within the letter was a tale of a character so tormented by the
possibility of her relationship losing colour that she decided to leave, eternally
preserving it’s resonance but tragically separating the star-crossed couple.
This bitter-sweet contrast of beauty and melancholy is ever present in ‘Intermission’,
with Astrid Suryanto’s soaring vocals adding shades of light and dark to DJ Yellow’s
blend of cold metallic techno and uplifting electronic pop.
Tracks like ‘In Your Voice’, ‘Light On Me’ and ‘To The Top’ are saturated with ethereal
pads and epic vocal harmony, yet animated by a jagged, buzzed synth and deep bass
pound that maintains the balance between warm and cold.
Not every track is shrouded in such conflict however, with cuts like ‘Night In’ and ‘You
Are’ moving into the realms of electronic pop, with technically complex rhythms
lightened by optimistic bass and a warm, ambient vocal tone.
Together, DJ Yellow and Astrid Suryanto have crafted an enchanting album that
approaches with intimate lyricism, moves with whirlwind euphoria and leaves behind a
resonant ember.

With Roland M. Dill we have signed our first home based artist from Cologne for a long
time.
Roland M. Dill has won a couple of DJ contests in the Rhein area and is a person who likes
the challenge of physical extremes. His passion is ice climbing, where he throws the axe
rhythmically in the glacier wall and has successfully climbed the Chimborazo.
He likes to DJ at least with 3 record players and if that all sounds a bit worrying… well he
is a guy that knows what he is doing.
Roland´s release on Trapez ltd in February 2008 is his first one and a stunning debut.
Quite untypical for the Cologne scene, that has lived some years from the inspiration of
Wolfgang Voigt, we witness here a fresh new style.
His release shows his skill to be accurate, physical and at the same time very funky. His
influences range from Chicago Jack trax to Adam Beyer, which he reveals with his tracks
the “8th Day” and “9th Day”.
Both tracks work with complex seemingly simple groove patterns and are special in that
respect that they bridge the borderline between Chicago and European minimal techno.
Being a youngster and newcomer we see a great potential in his fresh and dynamic way of
writing techno music and have asked him to produce a mix for Alex Under´s Remix EP
which will be released digitally on top of the vinyl release in January 2008.
In addition to the vinyl 12″ “Days” on Trapez ltd Roland will be releasing the digital bonus
track “Modus Operandy” which was also included on the Trapez mix CD “Triple R -
Selection 6″.
Track list:
A. The 8th Day
B. The 9th Day

After two very successful 12″s on MBF Piemont have earned their role as one of the key
players on the label. With their new record “Bastille” they have developed their style even
stronger in the fashion of their first two releases. Piemont have taken some time out to
deliver a record that really works with similar parameters.
Their trademark so far has been a fat production that strips down elements of electro-house
and progressive elements in a rhythmical way that makes them one of the best producers
from Hamburg.
MBF is proud to present a 2 -tracker with the tracks “Bastille” and “Montmartre”. Both
tracks are in a way clonk groovers with occasional peaks that set the floor on fire.
Blessed with a good deal of understatement and an extraordinary feeling for the groove
they manage to have a big effect with seemingly few sounds.
The a-side track “Bastille” is a a true fat prime time rocker that fills the air with bass and
sequences that make Italy legend Alexander Robotnik come alive. Whereas the flipside
track “Montmartre” is more specialised and connects psychedelia with pop.
Track list:
A. Bastille
B. Montmartre

Italian electro producer Maurizio Dami, often credited as being the godfather of
Italo-disco, is back on Endless Flight with the first incredible single from his
la(te)st album ‘ My La(te)st Album’.
A1 ‘Disco Sick’ is a retro/futurist electro track, with reverse loop percussion
shuffling a simple synth melody, dramatised by thick sci-fi pads. A vocoded hook
narrates ever intensifying moaning synths and hi-end cymbals which ride out on
a cloud of sustained atmospherics.
A2 ‘Disco Sick (Robotnick remix) takes the track a lot deeper, with pulsing bass
and clattering percussion opening up into a faster and more chaotic house
adaptation of his original.
On the B side, ‘Disco Sick (Tensnake remix)’ takes us straight to a scene out of
Miami Vice, with funked up bass synth and resonant chimes characterising an icy
slick interpretation of Alexander’s original, paying homage to his classic electro
roots.

Elektrochemie has been called a “super-group”; its ranks consisting of the highly respected producer Thomas Schumacher and the bewitching, galvanizing vocal presence of Caitlin Devlin; but unlike most super-groups, Elektrochemie is at least the sum of its formidable parts, and its gift to us is sophisticated and heavy-hitting dancefloor music with a human heart – albeit a heart flecked with ice. The ‘Get Yourself’ EP is Elektrochemie’s third offering for Get Physical, following the incredibly well-received ‘Pleasure Seeker’, ‘Don’t Go’ and ‘Mucky Star’ 12”s. Opening track ‘Faking’ begins in lulling, opiated fashion, flirting with spaced-out tom sounds before a fierce kickdrum arrives to really get the (techno) show on the road. Caitlin’s voice, at once sinister and enticing, advises us to “move into it, be done with all that superficial shit”, and as Stephan and Thomas work the percussion, jotting around the beats with pitch-shifting analogue basslines and hissing hi-hats, you’ll be unable to resist ‘Faking’’s breathless forward momentum.

It cannot be said that Susana and Rebeca have a background that is consistent with being musicians - one a customising fashion designer and the other a geneticist - not exactly a typical start to a career in music. But they have always shared a great passion for it since before meeting as students in Madrid where they had weekend jobs in the city’s club scene. Immediately recognising their strong similarities they became best of friends. From there they went on to play at the Gigolo party at Sonar and receive and invitation from DJ HELL to join the Gigolo family. And now they bring you their first mix CD for International Deejay Gigolo Records.

This is the second DJ mix by women on Gigolo this year (following PRINCESS SUPERSTARs American Gigolo 3 in January) so it’s fair to say the Gigolettas are doing it for themselves! LE CHIC sure know how to mould a DJ set so as to keep you entertained for a good hour. They have learned the skills behind the decks and have captured that energy perfectly on Le Mix. The pace is relentless throughout this incredible mix compilation: from start to finish it is packed with bomb tracks and not once does it let up. LE CHIC have managed to capture a fine party mix and have done the Gigolo name proud. You can be sure they have a long and successful DJ career ahead of them - anyone who hears this mix is gonna want to check them out live in the club.

On one side there’s “9/11″, a tense and broody club mix from Norwegian underground talent Black Labelle. On the other, JoJo de Freq, Miss Kittins fellow DJ playmate and resident at NagNagNag, has added a big, bouncing, acid-tinged bassline and Euro-synth stabs to her “Beauty is Terror” mix. Rob Reger also designed a limited edition picture disc that you can find in your local record store. A “normal” vinyl edition is also available.
