The Hamburg producer records mostly for the hometown Diynamic imprint, crafting gently wobbly and highly melodic tracks that tug ever-so-carefully at the heartstrings. It’s a sound that’s caught on among the DJ elite, as each of his two most recent collaborative productions, ‘Madeline’ (with Einmusik) and ‘Radar’ (with H.O.S.H.), have threatened the top of the RA charts. With a stunning track on the way called ‘Una Pena’ that samples Chilean folk singer Violetta Parra, we’re guessing that run isn’t likely to change.

Fairmont Myspace
Welcome back Fairmont. Born in the precious year of punk rock 1977, the Toronto based artist has always clung with his heart to the likes of The Stooges, T. Rex, Spacemen 3 and so for us it is no surprise that Jake makes a tight connection here also with his alias Fairmont. Fairmont is considered the semi-famous “soft” side project of producer Jake Fairley which has become more and more famous over the years.
So Traum is happy to see Fairmont’s comeback with 4 brand new unreleased tracks. The title “3 Cities” refers to his life as a techno troubadour, constantly moving from one city to the next, composing and performing in different environments. All three songs were composed in Amsterdam, Berlin and Toronto. The EP starts with the title track “3 Cities”. A sonic track. Opening with an appegiator sequence, the track changes very much in following minutes. A true psychedelic and amazing track unfolds here in which the climax is step by step generated leading to indistinguishable inflammable vocals by Jacob Fairley himself . A wall of sound, dissonant sounds clashing, imploding energy, the track reveals a cosmic and dreamlike state. For everyone knowing Fairmont this track certainly is very different to anything he has done in the past on any other label.

Mihalis Safras Myspace

The Greek icon Mihalis Safras returns from his summer break with a powerful 4 track ep! For all the die hard fans of Mihalis “Berliner” makes a strong move towards the deep and driving side of what we would call „Detroit influenced“ music. We have experienced some of this style on his Trapez ltd album “Cry For The Last Dance“. But with „Berliner“ Mihalis ads even more depth and sensuality to his style which makes the track a powerful piece of techno. “Berliner” is made out of one piece as we say here… a masterpiece of post Chicago sexiness, sensual and very rhythmic!

We Love - We Love

With the duo We Love, Ellen Allien has sought out the golden needle in the haystack of current club music. It’s almost impossible to resist the charm of the sweet Giorgia Angiuli, with her alluring brown eyes, and the wild locks of the contemplative, emotional Piero Fragola. The pair’s debut album could become the chorus of the summer. Their enchanting songs fuse the ecstasy of club land with the emotions of pop. Giorgia and Piero moved from the south of Italy to Florence and immersed their intimate love songs in a synthetic glamour. Simmering beneath the cool exterior of the synthesiser and guitars is the sex appeal of seventies glam heroes. Their gigs are legendary: in these pop performances, We Love create their own cosmos of music, film and fashion. Donning futuristic costumes and masks, they take us on a crusade of love – the strongest feeling of all. “On stage we are like two soldiers of love: two faces behind a visor, two bodies behind a black and white suit of armour.”

Roland M. Dill Myspace

We can only speculate on what Roland M . Dill wants so express with a title like “Casino Capitalism” and in how this correlates with his making of music. First of all it is not a political dimension he refers to but a simple technical term and Roland is known by now to the techno world as an architect and composer rather than a person who works for a one-dimensional world. Talking about “Casino Capitalism” we want to state here it is a hell of a funk monster! A cool odyssey changing angles of perspective, dynamics, but always keeping it cool and elegant. There is space for silence as well as roaring passages… not to forget that the track burst of emotional strength. The track describes “a condition” rather than a simple state of mind… but who knows Roland M. Dill knows that he is a guy who takes on the most difficult challenges and let’s his composition skills and intellect do the work. This is a great tune!

Download T.Williams Mix2 here
Phonica Records return with release no.6, that features two spellbinding remixes of a track that’s a classic around these parts…

Originally released in 1994, Bob Holroyd’s effervescent, career-defining anthem ‘African Drug’ was included on both Francois K’s Essential Mix and Coldcut’s Journeys By DJ: Coldcut – 70 Minutes Of Madness. So when Bob walked through our shop’s doors one day, we couldn’t resist asking to license the track and give it a new lease of life with two breathtaking remixes. And that’s exactly what we did.

The first remix comes from the consistently trailblazing Four Tet. Clocking in at just under 12 minutes, there’s only one word to describe it – epic. Using the African samples of the original, Four Tet builds a complex, glockenspiel-esque melody that slowly morphs into a feast of hypnotic percussion, pulsating sub- bass and dizzying, psychedelic FX. Following a brief remission around the halfway mark, the melody returns, unspooling into a climactic freak-out that’s simply classic Four Tet.

On the flipside we have rising star of T.Williams – who also gave us the first Local Action release – re- tooling ‘African Drug’ for more leftfield dancefloors. An absorbing, off-kilter percussive intro gradually gives way to a heavy yet streamlined 4/4 groove. Ultra-modern but mindful of the source material’s timeless appeal, this is a raw, powerful version with ‘secret weapon’ written all over it.

There are two digital bonus tracks for anyone who prefers a download to a nice piece of wax: a second T.Williams remix that’s more wild and wired than the vinyl cut, plus the original mix of “African Drug’, still spellbinding sixteen years after it was made.

Ambivalent Myspace
But it here
It’s that odd moment when you’re standing at the bar at the local nightclub and it’s far too late. You’re already quite tipsy and another drink is probably not the best idea. But you’re staying at the club for another 5 hours at least, and you’ve found your way to the bar. It’s probably around 4AM or so (or is it afternoon now?), and for the very first time in all the years of going to this venue, you notice the espresso machine nestled between the familiar bottles. You have that split second moment where you consider the benefits of the espresso. And then, you hear the track playing and stumble back to the dancefloor for a boogie. It’s a damn good track, and the crowd seems to be really into it. There is a good possibility that track in question is from the latest EP by Ambivalent, entitled Down… but then again, maybe it’s not.

Kaiserdisco
Kaiserdisco Myspace
Kaiserdisco have been incurring a ludicrous amount of hype recently but we think since the guys are doing their first album, there is enough reason for us to ad to it. Suffice to say that it´s fully deserved. Kaiserdisco are a bit of a phenomena. It is hardly imaginable that artists being categorised as “minimal artists” land top chart positions with every release they do. Kaiserdisco have done exactly that with almost every release. For some shocking… for others just a proof that they are very very good! Praise comes from the top international DJ league including an invitation by Pete Tong to his “15 minutes of fame” show on the BBC1. Numerous chart positions with their home label MBF and lately also with Drumcode, Terminal M and Kling Klong have proved…, the time for the “Kaiser“ has come to release their long player. The Kaiserdisco duo reveal on their brand new album a sound they are very proud of and which they have cultivated now through a dozen releases, most of them on their home base label. Minimal without being boring, trippy without being predictable, unafraid of melody, ethno sounds or vocals and with a sophisticated super strong production, this is the trademark of Kaiserdisco. As their name reveals, Kaiserdisco is about the disco, the club, the hysteria, the nightlife. It is about creating a good vibe, putting a smile on peoples face, making things happen. So here we are proud to release Kaiserdisco´s album, “In No One´s Shadow”. The CD version comes with 10 unreleased trax plus their biggest hits “Aquja” and “Carachillo” previously released on MBF, show maxi and album material for the first time on CD.
