Since the official release of ellen allien’s album “sool”, everybody knows the catchy hookline of the track “elphine”. visitors with regular attendance on the bpitch control homepage couldn’t miss it. with catalogue number bpc181 “elphine” is now available as 12”. bpitch control artists zander vt and the american troy pierce purify this track with their special remixes. three big names in the business.
a1: elphine
as a constant part of various radio and dj playlists worldwide, “elphine” is creeping into your subconsciousness in a frisky way and produces positive energy. so make sure your aerials are on reception and your controllers on maximum position.
a2: elphine (zander vt remix)
it was a quiet time for zander vt lately, but with their new remix (as well as an upcoming 12” on bpitch control) the two berlin based djs and producers are back with an impressive sign of live and deliver a delicious work on here. the characteristic “elphine” hook crosses the whole remix theme and pushes the audience straight on the dancefloor.
b: elphine (troy’s one eyed jak remix)
these days, the american-born troy pierce lives in the german capital berlin. constantly creating big furore with his releases on richie hawtin’s label m_nus, mr. pierce has put his magic fingers on ellen allien’s track “elphine” - the result is a unique remix, pushed by an impulsive bassline and the new arranged vocals, taken from the original.

The 23 year old music student Ricardo Tobar from the seaside town of Viña del Mar in
Chile is one of the upcoming stars at Border Community and is now releasing his debut
12” with Traum! Tobar´s a-side track “La Otra Playa” is an explosive electronic grunge piece of music with lots of feedback and noises on top of a wonderful melodic carpet.
It is introspective music clouded with melancholy and counteracts with sure brutal force but lets sun beams shine through from time to time, in all creating a dramatic composition.
Here Electronica meets the pioneer days of techno in a wonderful unpretentious way.
“With You” on the flipside combines with an easiness euphoric rippling fuzzy guitars sounds with echno beats. It evokes the feeling of the indie days from the mid 90ies when commercialisation was beginning to approach the scene in a big way.
“Escalera A Central” is by far the most “minimal” track on Tobar´s record. More stripped down and focussed on sounds that act on a smaller scale in relation to the rhythm.
A psychedelic track, changing direction, throwing itself from one corner to the other and still staying a DJ tool.
“Sometimes”, the digital bonus track is a quiet “orchestral-pop piece” of music, which has a slightly melancholic feel to it, reminiscent of some techno house elements providing it with a rough edge that is so typical for Ricardo Tobar´s post punk production.
Tracklist:
A. La Otra Playa
B1. With You
B2. Escalera A Central

Jeff Samuel is back on Trapez! After a break and several releases on other labels such as
Frankie, his a-side track “Chloe’s Brain“ is again a cool nightmare of small ghosts coming alive. Jeff´s talent for fitting small things together to create one sound is a skill he is an absolute master in. There are times when all these elements seems to have a life of their own but Jeff always manages to bring them together with tightness and accuracy.
“Chloe’s Brain“ is a weird piece of funk that works well with the releases out on Trapez at the moment.
“The Times” on the flipside seems heavier. The production is relentless and strong, still quirky but a whole lot more powerful in this respect.
“Curveball” the first digital bonus track, is probably the straightest track of the whole release resenting itself stronger in the way of a powerful tool which has already rocked several dance floors during Jeff´s live sets!
The second bonus mix comes by Jacob London from Seattle Washington, USA. The duo is
well known from their releases on Om Records (San Francisco), Dotbleep (Chicago), Doubledown (San Diego), U-Freqs (UK) and Derrick Carter & Luke Solomon’s popular Classic Records (UK) imprint. They have contributed a remix in their own unique funky style.
Jacob London´s remix asks the question: “What do you want to do after this” and they really get the remix going with a lot of cool added vocals and funky programmed cut up sound clips that we believe could be from the original or out of space and last but not least ad a super driving bassline!
Tracklist:
A. Chloe`s Brain
B. The Times
Digital Bonus 1: Curve Ball
Digital Bonus 2: Chloe’s Brain (Jacob London Cortical Folds Mix)

Piemont´s new 12” “Central Mouth” gives a good foretaste of their upcoming album on
MBF which will be released in February 2009.
Frederic Möring-Sack and Christian de Jonquiéres evoke the ghosts of previous releases
such as “Carbonat”, Sympathetic” and “Black Smoker” but add another facet.
The title track “Central Mouth” is a track that genuinely brings rave and percussive skills
together, creates so to speak a fine blend of reduction on the one hand and a “hands up in
the air feeling” on the other hand. A new thing for Piemont which has already proved to be
one of their absolute hits in their live set.
“Retroreflector” is nearly the opposite, the percussive elements come to the force much
stronger and create a wonderful flow, which leaves the DJ with a drink enjoying
“Retroreflector’s” voyage.
Bastian Heerhorst is the first artist to remix a Piemont track so far for us.
His remix of “Central Mouth” will be released as an exclusive digital bonus track.
The “Sa coma play Mix” relies on mighty chords which give the the remix a dramatic edge
and an additional post Detroit feeling the original was not focussed on.
We are excited about his debut.
Tracklist:
A. Central Mouth
B. Retroreflector
Digital Bonus: Central Mouth (Bastian Heerhorst “Sa coma play mix”)

Marc Houle follows 2007’s Techno Vocals EP with a string of releases that experiment with the
true potential of the digital download age, 3 tracks released per week for one month.
The project aptly titled Sixty-Four represents an exciting phase in Marc Houle’s production cycle
with most of the year having been spent testing ideas for his album. As a result, these twelve tracks
were only ever meant to represent ‘work in progress’, functioning primarily as DJ tools for Magda,
Troy Pierce and Richie Hawtin over the summer with Marc also performing them live on the road and
during the Contakt shows. However, exactly because of their ‘in-between’ nature, their inherent
quirkiness and route one approach the crowds have really taken to them and other DJs have been
desperate to get their hands on them. To satisfy demand, Minus has put together this very special
series of digital releases for August, before a double pack 12″ hits the shops in September featuring
seven carefully selected tracks.
They contain such a wealth of unique and twisted sounds that it’s a challenge finding adjectives to
describe them. Houle attacks each idea with verve and tenacity, constantly varying the
unconventional line up of machines at his disposal, in fact there’s a vast collection of equipment on
display here - early analogue synths, sequencers and drum machines, 80s digital synths, modern
buchla synths, samplers, vocals, acoustic drums, electronic trigger pads, bass guitar - even a vst! The
result is a plethora of sound encapsulating different styles and multi – coloured dimensions as each
track revolves around a musical motif that’s subsequently stretched, contorted and wrenched in every
direction possible. It all works perfectly as Houle never loses sight of the basic orthodoxies needed to
make a techno track kick.

For this year’s artist album on his label Cadenza Records Luciano explores a new direction into the world
of pop music, or at least something very much like it. If you’re searching for a new direction in
contemporary club music, Los Updates may just be the musical reset you’ve been looking for. Quirky,
moving and instantly memorable, it’s a sophisticated pop song album displaying a rare degree of musical
maturity.
Los Updates is the latest project from Chilean mastermind Jorge González, long one of the country’s bestknown musical ambassadors. Jorge has been a central figure on the Latin American musical stage since the ’80s—first as the co-founder of Chile’s beloved political rockers Los Prisioneros, then as a restlessly inventive solo musician and as one half of Gonzálo Martínez, the experimental electronic duo with Dandy Jack. Now based in Mexico City and working alongside Loreto Otero, Jorge presents Los Updates, a new project combining electro-pop with sprightly house and techno. Los Updates expand their collaborative scope by reaching out to Jorge’s inner circle from back in Santiago and beyond: Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack, Luciano, Tobias Freund and others - all deliver defiantly original remixes of Los Updates across a trilogy of 12-inch singles – released on Cadenza Records this year - and a remix compilation on CD will follow in 2009.
But here, if you please, Luciano presents Los Updates First If You Please: an eight-song suite that makes the definitive Los Updates document.
Jorge backs up an unforgettable vocal performance with equally compelling production, crafting an addictive groove out of rubbery synthesizers, clattering drum machines and oddball samples galore. There’s no doubt that he has top-notch studio chops, but González makes his outsider status a virtue: His beats don’t sound like anyone else’s.
The album is a “kinky journey,” to quote Jorge, into rare chemicals, sexual madness, and hearts beating at 128 BPM; by turns whimsical and biting, it’s a showcase of Jorge’s off-kilter storytelling, a sentimental adventure across continents and musical styles. House, pop, 2-step, 8-bit, funk, rave and balladry all come together in a glorious and glittering amalgam that’s at once loosey-goosey and precise as clockwork. The air is thick with sounds as bright as scarab beetles—squelchy synthesizers, sirens, electric guitars, acid squiggles, cascading ice cube clatter—and loops skip back and forth in bursts of nervous energy. At the center of it all is Jorge’s voice: seductive, inimitably rich, impossibly suave and yet, sometimes, even a little weird. A voice to fall in love with.
A record release tour of Los Updates will start in fall 2008.

Dapayk’s latest album is called ‘Devil’s House’. Unlike its predecessor, the beats are less abstract, but topical and more break-beat-like. As ever, these are unmistakeably voluminous sounds! Let’s look at it in order: “Intro” - a cinematic shattering of saw - introduces a house of dark powers which could have Devil written on the doorbell! These powers continue in “Scratch the surface”. Under this surface you can envision a pulsing dancefloor, which rules the next track like a sawtooth massacre. The break-beat-like rhythm of ‘A Saw Attacks’ reveals a powerful listening experience and will be the first single. Dubstep and 2Step samples interweave this track, so you don’t have a single clue where electro starts and techno ends.
Skits and small audio clips separate and connect tracks such as “Better stop breathing”, which leads over to “Vermo’s House” and combines Dapayk’s stumbling beats with abrasive sound. Having game-played through most of the levels of „Devil’s house“ you face another Skit: “Road to boesendorf” - a relaxing piano etude, before “Right here with me” starts. In “Berlin amo”, 2Step Beats and Electro seamlessly marry, while “Child of the night” haunts with dark minimal textures. “How low” evokes the depths of the bass with incisive questioning vocals. The beatless snippet “Strings attached” leads to the melancholic ending of the album. This melancholy continues in track “Niro”, which connects Dubstep a la Burial and Minimal. “Skit” - a clip with an acoustic guitar - leads over to “A wave that leads you home”: The album’s final track that bids farewell.
This album not only reaches out for the dancefloors, but also (which should be common for a longplayer) offers an emotional joyride. The roller coaster is packed with typical Dapayk sounds and latest influences of his sound cosmos, which of course have enlarge Dapayk’s palette. Adeptly producted and composed, you will discover new details with every listen.

The Berlin label Meteosound (run by SHITKATAPULT´s Daniel Meteo) broke its silence with its digital only DEMAND series in early 2008. Now we are proud to announce our first vinyl 12″ release after one year!
With BAD IDEAS Berlin producer and sound engineer FELIX delivers a great book of (5) musical sketches that lead from uptempo cut up dubby hiphop beats and breaks to dreamy musical pictures of instrumental music. BAD IDEAS is concentrating on music production as something wonderful and its raw endings, cuts and missing fades amplify this feeling. You can surely find a strong influence of jazz music in his chord progressions and catchy phrases. So Meteo22 comes as an offer and parole to start to make music again and let ideas grow by themselves again without restrictions or genre typical needings.
Is that a bad idea? Meteosound prooves again that it´s worth to spend any hour of your lifetime for the wants and wishes of good electronic music far beyond marketing areas, techno club hypes or overdone labelling of a genre - whether you call it dub, soul city music or electronic music or whatever…
FELIX is also known as DONNA K and SCAPEGOAT for several releases on labels like FREIZEITGLAUBEN or SHITKATAPULT.
