One of the best tracks from SMD’s album, ‘Hustler’ gets a couple of fine remixes, this time from Kevin Saunderson and Shackleton.Saunderson delivers a deep, driving techno version on the A side while Shackleton’s take is altogether more sparse, minimal and dubby. Pressed up on sparkly purple vinyl too! Hot.

Ricardo Villalobos returns with what can be seen as the vinyl version of his recent Fabric cd… A gargantuan triple-pack that packs 7 tracks - four off the Fabric cd & three new ones - onto the grooves of this rather heavyweight (literaly and metaphorically) release. Each track stands uniquely on it´s own but also works yet again in a subtle context with all other tracks. Oh and did we mention that Sei Es Drum is officially Ricardo’s label?? Well impressive…

Matt John is back with a new stunning piece of minimal techno. Stretching over more than eleven minutes, ”Olga Dancekowski“ is another psychedelic journey through the hypnotic sounds of Mr.John, where little bleepy sequences accumulate a twisted impact for the eager souls on the floor. His buddy Matthew Dear does need no further introduction. His remix is as twisted but he unleashes more eerie dancefloor frenzy.

Following the big success of their debut release “Metro Gold” Berlin based resident DJ of
Bar 25 Red Robin and Format B member Jakob Hilden have come up with a very hitty and
unorthodox big production as a follow up.
The two club tracks of the upcoming “Tales EP” are straightforward and reduced to the
essentials. Made out of pure power.
“Lazy Jack” the a-side is another monster of a track. It holds the dark Berlin side of Techno,
with its droning noises and delays. It reminds us a bit of Chicago techno house at it’s best,
but this is just one facetted of the track. It get´s it´s other enthusiastic crazy over the top and
emotional side from the whistle melody which sets in half way through the track.
This leading sequenced is such a catchy tune that it´s sure to be heard in all mayor Berlin
clubs and eventually all around the globe.
The b-side track “Tin Soldier” is a marching techno tune, with a cool slight swing
programming in the rhythm and drugged out chords. Creating a ghost town atmosphere,
transforming the Club into another “Futureworld”.

Danton Eeprom

Freak N Chic deliver an absolute belter in the form of Danton Eeprom’s two tracker here. ‘All I Can Say’ on the A side is dark, minimal house number with pitched down vocals that does the job really well but it’s the B side that we’re getting the most out of which is Shonky’s trippy, techno meets house warper. Massive!

Following Conditions”, by Abe Duque, takes in sounds from glitch and house. The B-side track “Outlook” is a hard minimal number ideal for those late hours when there’s no going back (at least not until sunrise).

For ABE DUQUE music is very much a labour of love. He’s one of those guys who couldn’t stop making music if he wanted to.DUQUE’s lengthy discography charts a highly productive career as a recording artist over the last fifteen years. From his roots in Hollis, New York, the man first rose to recognition under his KIRLIAN alias. He soon made connections with Munich based label Disko B and is a long term honourary of DJ HELL’s International Deejay Gigolos for whom he did the American Gigolo 2 mix last year. Following 2004’s acclaimed So Underground It Hurts, ABE DUQUE’s new solo album When The Fever Breaks has also won acclaim from all sides. This single includes exclusive extended new mixes of two of the hottest tracks from said album. While Following Conditions takes in sounds from glitch and house, B-side track Outlook is a hard minimal number ideal for those late hours when there’s no going back (at least not until sunrise). Although the hard straight beat at the core of Outlook proves misleading as the track goes on to develop on beautiful jazzy xylophone melodies. While the music is without a doubt prime, its still not clear if ABE named the tune after his email program. With ABE’s own label doing so well - recent releases from himself, GENARRO LE FOSSE and the RANCHO RELAXO ALLSTARS - it is sweet that Sir DUQUE still finds time for an exclusive vinyl release on Gigolo, label of his long-term friend and colleague DJ HELL, with which he has been so closely affiliated since word go. ABE DUQUE has released on Disko B, Gigolo, Mille Plateaux and Crosstown Rebels. He has remixed the likes of HELL, CHEMICAL BROTHERS, PET SHOP BOYS and KRAFTWERK and worked with RICHARD DORFMEISTER, PATRICK PULSINGER and JIMMY TENOR (on RANCHO RELAXO’s). He has the rare talent as an artist of being liked by pretty much everyone.

Of the continuing themes found throughout the music released on Minus, one constant exploration is the relationship between sound and silence. The act of finding inspiration from a sonic molecule or the inaudible space around that element is the nature of “Expansion / Contraction”. Dubfire enters with the tremendous “Emissions”. This is his first track to be released on Minus and is the culmination of his gravitation towards the Minus sound cemented by a friendship over the years with label head Richie Hawtin. Gaiser again hits the mark with “Mute”, which captures the excitement of his storming live shows throughout 2007. Marc Houle continues his own musical expansion with “Porch”, while Plastikman’s “Risk Assessment” begins the contraction with a simmering builder of a track guaranteed to disconcert even the most sonically prepared of listeners. Heartthrob is right back on form and contributes the growling funk beast that is “Roundabout”.

Still an insiders´ tip, the young talent Massimo di Lena from Naples has made a big step
through signing in 2006 to Frankie Records, Archipel, Safari Electronique und Tic Tac Toe
Records.
He attracted the attention of Trapez when he was first approached to remix an Alex Under
track. The collaboration developed into a solo 12″, which will be released in December
2007 on Trapez.
Massi DL definitely is one of the gifted producers in the scene who can really animate
minimal techno with emotion and has an ear for new and different sounds.
His upcoming 12″ fits to Alex Under releases on Trapez, since they share the love
for rhythmic cascades and crazy sounds.
We can truthfully say the a-side track “Acidland” is one of the craziest minimal trax we
have heard for a long time and the flipside track “Wonderland” controls the pace as no
other does.

Track list:
A. Acidland
B. Wonderland

Acidland is for sure the one to go for!!

We would like to close 2007 with a littly goody: a limited coloured vinyl release.
The split 12″ features tracks by two young new artist who will release solo records on
Traum in 2008. Mathew Leutwyler from Mexico who has released on `Silver Planet` before
and Joint Custody from Tampa Bay, Florida.
Mathew Leutwylers track “Jovencitas” is a perfect christmas-techno-groover, with heart
warming melodies and an melodic style which fits perfectly to our music on Traum.
The duo Joined Custody have delivered a stripped down rocker, maybe for people who like
Extrawelt, a track which rocks with it´s groove and massive elements and it´s central Vocal
“Voodoo People”.
We wish you a happy new year!

Track list:
A. Mathew Leutwyler - Jovencitas
B. Joint Custody - Voodoo People

Brodinski

Brodinski’s Bad Runner is one of the most sought after ep of this year, co-produced by Yuksek & getting heavy support from selected dj’s! Final version comes with killer remixes from Crookers & Radioclit!

Brodinski has remixed today’s and tomorrow hottest acts like Klaxons, Bonde Do Role, The Shoes, Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya, D.I.M., Pase Rock & Das Pop for labels like Kitsuné, Counterfeet or Bugged Out.

Brodinski is just turning 20 and is the only dj I know that went from laptop mixing back at the good old vinyl. He is now the new resident dj @ Panik’s parties in Paris, bringing back the breaks in techno and the groove back in minimal

Factor City Records

Four track compilation celebrating the 20th release of this excellent Barcelona label. First up are masterminds Undo & Vicknoise with what is quite a dreamy and melodic electrohouse track. Next up Sistema delivers a old-school techno jam with a simple synth melody that’ll transfix you for the length of the track. MouseUp manage to sound even more old-school with a slow paced techno track that bears resemblance to certain Carl Craig productions whilst finally Lontano’s contribution is the most minimal one of the bunch but still maintain’s the label’s knack for a good melody.
The SISTEMA track “Te Tazas” is our favourite. Sistema is no other than Manuel Ruiz, the man they call Ebola, veteran DJ and producer from the Barcelona scene and responsible of Neue Larmklassiker on the now defunct Minifunk label. A man of many aliases and musical personas, he has chosen Sistema for some of his most dancefloor-friendly material.

Discordant, minimaly electrohouse from Dusty Kid aka Paolo Alberto Lodde, whose previoud release on Systematic and Kling Klong went down a treat. A-side has got a simple yet hypnotic synth line that brings to mind Martin Landsky’s “1000 Miles”. The flipside has got a similarly simple structure but benefits highly from a killer bouncy bassline, thats our favourite.

Even if the the vocalsample in the track claims the opposite, “Good Boy Bad Boy” with it’s evil creaking beat sends you on a trip you’ll never forget. After a minute or so, Raudive aka Oliver Ho sends the characteristic smouldering synthsound through a massive compressor - “You! Have! To! Dance!” we are told. On the B-Side, with „Enter“, Raudive doesn’t let you catch your breath with its catchy melody, a drifty beat, a short voicesample resulting in a second peaktime-burner thats not too subtle! Its a winner!

As the evenings close in, JPLS makes a timely return with more dark, brooding electronics. This year has already seen the release of the Twilite LP, establishing him as one of the leading exponents of 21st century conceptual techno; this time round however, there are a few subtle shifts of emphasis. The beats are tougher for one, plus there’s a distinct acid flavour to the proceedings but the tracks still retain that otherworldly appeal that defines his productions. Listening to JPLS is like catching your reflection in a broken mirror. The urgent repetition of Fuckshuf fle seems to exist in a million different places at once while the bubbling acid bass worms itself into your head, scribbling odd patterns of thought across your subconscious that slowly dissolve like smoke rings.

Sennh is a new face on the minimal techno horizon although he has been writing music for
some years now.
His 2-track release is a fusion of melody, sound and driving beats… creating a journey
which is sometimes deep and introspective and at other times joyful and wild. These two
worlds collide and result in a supernova of modern techno Traum is known for.
The a-side features “I am with you” a melodic track that breathes and feels alive, but is on
the other hand a real monster of a techno track with an unbelievable production.
The flipside track “Warm Frequencies” could also be on the a-side. It has more edges and
more electronic sounding sequences and an advanced beat construction than “I am with
you”. The track relies on a heavy off bassline and a melody which sounds as if it had been
pressed through the lips of a dozen penguins.
Sennh will record a follow up to this record for Traum.
